Current Research Participation Opportunities
There are a number of research projects and studies underway across Canada generally and in London specifically.
We will attempt to keep this space current with opportunities that we are made aware of through our partnership with St. Joseph’s Health Care London, Western University and other centres across the region and country.
NOTE: This list of research participant opportunities are ethics approved by our research committee and are provided as information only. Further inquires should be directed to the specific research project facilitator.
Research Project #1
Western University is looking for participants to take part in a clinical trial of Ambroxol (a cough medicine with an excellent safety record that is not currently available in Canada) and the effects it may have on the development of Parkinson’s disease dementia. If you are over 50 and have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease with a cognitive impairment, you may be eligible to participate. Research Project #2
The Geriatric Medicine department at the London Health Sciences Centre is looking for volunteers to take part in a physical exercise study. If you are 60 years old or over, have trouble remembering things, and do not have Alzheimer’s disease you may be eligible to participate. Research Project #3
Robarts Research Institute and St. Joseph’s Health Care London are seeking individuals with Alzheimer’s disease who experience agitation (and their care partner) for a 24-week study of psychosocial counseling with or without Esscitalopram taking place at Parkwood Institute Mental Health Care Building.
