“As a care partner for my husband, I am so very grateful to be both a client, a Board member, and an advocate. I speak for many other families and friends out there with whom I have contact. They too are grateful for your work on behalf of all those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias.”
– Deb Weber
We have an unrelenting focus on those we serve. It is for this reason that we are uniting to become the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners. Together, our three Societies, Elgin-St. Thomas, London & Middlesex and Oxford, will be better able to serve more people, provide more services and reach a broader audience through our region. While having a strong regional team, we will serve locally, and, over time, expand our reach into more communities within our region.
The benefits of our unification include:
- Better access and support for people living with dementia/Alzheimer’s and their care partners
- Ability to serve more people
- Improved staffing and organizational strength
- Contribute to simplifying the healthcare system by streamlining the delivery of dementia programs and services
The unification will officially begin July 1,2021. At that time:
- Carol Walters will become the CEO of the Unified Society
- Shelley Green will become the Director of People & Culture – Oxford Lead
- Christine Poier will become the Director of Operations – Elgin Lead
To our clients, please know that at this time, nothing changes for you. You will remain working with the same workers and any groups you attend or services that you currently receive will all remain the same. All of us at the three Societies remain totally committed to serving you the best way we can!
To our donors, your continued support will remain vital for our work to continue. Know that your donations now and in the future will be able to be directed to a specific program or region. We are committed to honouring our donors’ wishes. We take this moment to thank you for your ongoing commitment to the people we serve.
To our volunteers, in a unified agency your volunteer work will remain as critical as always. We take this moment to thank you for your ongoing commitment to the people we serve. We are excited about our future. Together, we will be stronger and better able to serve those living with dementia and their care partners.
